Helgoth and Associates Casting

About Steven Helgoth, CSA

Before casting West Bank Story, which took home The Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 2007, Steven Helgoth began his career in show business studying acting with legendary actors/ teachers Uta Hagen, Geraldine Page, and Sandy Dennis. Soon after he focused his talents as the artistic director for several prominent NYC theater companies including The Sanford Meisner Theater and The Vortex Theater Company. His former theatrical production company, Steppin’ Out Productions, produced the popular long-running show Dressing Room Divas in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Always moving forward, Steven relocated to Los Angeles and immediately became involved producing theater with such acclaimed shows as Driving While Black in Beverly Hills and Marmalade Skies at the Matrix Theater, The Caine Mutiny Court Martial at the Tamarind Theater, and Nuns Against Porn at The Underground Theater in Hollywood. The next logical step in his eclectic career was establishing Helgoth and Associates Casting in 1998. He quickly went to work casting several projects. West Bank Story premiered and won at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival and was screened at numerous other film festivals across the globe, garnering several awards and culminating with the ultimate prize- the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film at the 79th Academy Awards in 2007. Close Call and Lost Lake, both distributed by Warner Brothers, and Are You Scared, distributed by Lions Gate, are among many other projects Steven has cast. His connection with actors is unique, having worked with some of the biggest names in the business all the while specializing in the independent and & foreign film markets. As a casting professional Steve has also worked extensively in the Asian market. He recently cast five episodes (on American soil) of The Heirs, Korea’s most popular series equivalent to the American drama series Melrose Place. Steven has successfully merged both his casting and producing experiences as the Executive Producer of Cinekat Filmworks, his own “original content” production company with projects currently in all stages of production from “in development” to “post production”. Steven’s unique understanding of actors and how the casting business works has afforded him a reputation as one of the most reliable in his field.
